@WoW
Not sure why I've been in a WoW mood lately, but hey.

-Went to LFR for the first time. Alts are not ilevel'd enough to do them, though frankly ilevel doesn't count for much in LFR; there's very little strategy involved other than the very basic fight mechanics: go here, kill this, pick up loot.

-[info]dvarin appears to be afflicted with some sort of Curse of LFG Misfortune, since there were 4 of us doing LFR yesterday at around the same time in separate instances, and 3 of us plowed through all the Dragon Soul bosses in about 40 mins while his group apparently took 3 hours to down one boss.

-Picked up 2 items, one of which was a tier piece for a slot I have a 397 non-tier in, so it'll probably go on that healing set I almost never use. Token got left on the corpse due to looting error, but a GM restored it sometime between last night and this morning. While I don't submit tickets very often, experience with Blizzard's Customer Support has always been very positive.

-Am reasonably close to achieving block cap without having to drop every single other stat and gemming all Mastery. Sadly the one piece of T13 that I picked up so far was the hat, which does not have Expertise on it; the problem with missing is that missed hits do not generate Holy Power, which I suppose is not that bad in the grand scheme of things, but annoys me as a player because it screws up the ability rotation.

-Also got a trinket of Mastery proc, which is... not that great when you're close to cap, but does have a ton of Stamina on it. Sta vs Mastery generally boils down to the proportion of physical vs magic damage in a given encounter.

To be fair, I wasn't in an LFR group, I was in a half-guild PuG.
Dominant mode of LFR = rush through everything and ignore strategy
Dominant mode of PuG = Don't get the strategy right and also spend 20 minutes chatting between each wipe

Why do you object to LFR then? I assume the point of going with a half-guild pug was so that it would be less aggravating than LFR.

I object to LFR mostly because the loot is %!@#$ed up and secondarily because I don't like rushing. The PuG was only slightly frustrating while the original leader was there because he was actively trying to get things killed; when he had to leave his replacement (the Guildmaster) was clearly more interested in chatting with the guild than actually fighting.

What's wrong with LFR loot? Other than the slightly lower ilevel, I mean. I think the bugged loot thing that I had was an exception rather than the rule.

There are 10 people rolling need on every item. 25 if it's a trinket.

There's also more loot per boss, I think? Also the spec bonus makes it easier to win things that you actually do need.

Also the spec bonus

doesn't reduce the field much unless you're a tank. And is slightly broken, though I don't think I usually play any of the specializations that get screwed over by it.
